I am going to need a new battery for my 06 Lexus IS350 soon. I had to recently add more distilled water to the OEM battery and in doing so had the battery tested at Autozone and PepBoys. Both said I need a new battery. I noticed I needed to add water so I did and the battery is doing fine, but have a feeling that it will need to be replaced anyway in the very near future. I check out both brands and was wondering which is better. I also looked at Optima, but I don't really need that much power. Thoughts?!

Which one has the best warranty? Go with that one. Questions don't really get asked when it comes to replacing a dead car battery under warranty as long as it's actually dead. Batteries aren't really made that badly - my boat uses whatever wal-mart sells and those tend to last way longer than I would expect. The Duralasts are what my cars have and they don't give any issues either. Just don't get the lowest tiered battery as those are the ones that usually are crap.

If you live in an area where it gets cold in the winter, your battery will be dead one morning when you try to start it. I had good luck with the last Bosch battery i bought.

You should be questioning yourself: What causes my present battery to use so much distilled water before buying a new one.

You should have your alternator voltage out-put checked. It's more than likely charging more than 14.0 volts with the car running will cook one battery after another. Make your Lexus dealer test it in front of your eyes then fix or replace the alternator if necessary.

I had to ***** like hell to my Toyota dealership because the factory installed Denso alternator (same as yours) was charging 14.6 volts & I had to add distilled water twice a year to the battery.

Most batteries today are junk. Get a battery from Walmart, save the receipt and save your cash for bigger problems. Use distilled white vinegar in place of water.

Get yourself a Die-Hard. It will be under $120, and you just might keep a fellow American employed.
