When you check Transmission Fluid, do you DRIVE the car for 20-30 Mins, or just let it Idle?

Binky didnt figure out the Block yet, i will... but for when it gets patched up, in a unique way:

How does one Check the Transmission Fluid?

I know you do it while its -RUNNING-... But i have questions:

1) How long do you let it RUN for? (Do you DRIVE it?)

2) Do you give it a shot of putting the Shifter into "1" and let the Trans Fluid circulate around 1st gear (in the Auto Trans,) Then "2" (getting to 2nd gear let it rev up a few seconds to give it a workoutout,) THEN put it in "D" THEN Drive it?

3) Do you go 100MPH to make SURE its all -Fully- Circulated?

4) How do you know if the Transmission Cooler part of your Radiator is -Dead,- Thus requiring new Radiator? is there any way to know?

5) After youve Driven it IF Letting it Idle isnt enough (surely letting it Idle for 30 minutes will warm it up..) THEN what? Do yo ushift through each gear, including Neutral, and let it stay in that gear for 15 or 20 seconds, watching your watch, Twice (P-R-N-D-2-1-2-D-N-R-N-D-2-1-2-D-N-R-P, 15 seconds each time?) Or ... let it Idle 5 minutes, THEN do that? Longer? Shorter?

Binky Misses you all. Its time to choose between this, OR get a $350 Jaguar "Crank No Start" look here (for which i would get 2 cans of B-12 ChemTool and 2 cans SeaFoam and get Fuel Filter changed, as it has sat for like 6 months or more and has "Sour Gas" most likely reason "Crank No Start" turns over Strong) Look http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu72/jcorbi82/JAG1-SideBack.jpg

Thanks

I don't like to let my car idle. If you let your car idle your gas mileage goes down.

I check my transmission fluid after I have been driving the car going somewhere (even after a 3 mile trip I do it).

Its probably best to check it after a trip on the freeway.

It obvious nobody bothered to read the manual. The fluid needs to be checked at operating temperature, which means hot. Not in gear. Park is good for most vehicles, but some Chryslers need to be in neutral, because the transmission pump doesn't run in park, and it needs to be running for an accurate reading.

I have no idea what you're talking about with the rest of the questions.

If you believe it is very low, you should add some fluid so you do not burn up the trans. Then run (idle is ok) it until warm. I recommend checking the owners manual if you have one because some vehicles require checking the fluid while in neutral.
