As you know, oil floats on water. The filter will catch some. Keep an eye on the oil until your next oil change. If it become a milky/foamy/brown color, then change it. When water mixes with oil, it will turn this color.

I accidentally poured three gallons of water in erroneously believing that was a water can not an oil can. Then I added two quarts of oil when the oil pressure light came on. When I got home I opened the lid and left it off and closed the hood of the car. It has been very hot here and I hope the water will evaporate out.

What is going on here? If you have water in your oil your headgasket is blown! Or if you have an oil-cooler that runs in the endtanks of your radadiator the cooler may be leaking. This has nothing to do with a puddle. If you sucked air into your intake then the water would go into your combustion chambers and your question would be "How come my car died and there is a giant hole in the side of my block with my piston rod sticking out of it?" Take your car to a qualified techhnician and get it inspected.

You might wanna reevaluate how water got into the oil!
Did the air filter get wet? Did the car die? You may have blown the head gasket or something more serious.
I mention this simply because the crankcase is fairly well sealed, you have the oil filler cap and the dipstick, neither of which should let ANY water into the engine....unless your actually sitting in water over the hood.

water dosen't get in your oil from driving through puddles. Unless the car was partially submegered (maybe). You got internal engine problems.

Depending on how much water that might be inside the engine, you might need to do oil change more than ones.

That's ridicules. Water doesn't get in your oil from driving through a puddle. If it's running crappy it's cuz you got the electronics wet

Change oil and filter.run for 10 min.
Then repeat 3 times .
Crank bearings dont like water.

if you have water in your oil it will be white, the oil jacket that surrounds your engine does not allow water to get in if it is it is getting in through the head gasket, you must repair this first.
